4 Burkina Faso nationals have been arrested at the Babile inland check point in the Upper West Region for trying to enter Ghana illegally.
Officials of the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) nabbed the Burkinabe nationals when they attempted using unapproved routes within the Hamile Sector Command, to enter into the country.
Their arrested was effected around 06 15HRS on Tuesday [May 5, 2020].
The ECOWAS nationals ranging ages 22 to 39, were on board a Hyundai Grace H300 mini bus with with registration number AS 3289-11, en route Wa and to Kumasi in the Ashanti Region, the GIS said in a statement.
“Our preliminary investigations revealed that their migration was for economic purposes.
It was also revealed that they entered Ghana thought an unapproved route within the Hamile Sector Command.
They were taking through initial health screening at the check point and were carried to Hamile Immigration Control for repatriation to their home country, Burkina Faso”.
The Immigration Service appealed to the general public particularly residents leaving around the borders to police the borders.
“We’re appealing to the border residents to be citizens and not spectators, particularly, in these unusual times. Whosoever is caught, aiding or facilitating the entry or exit of a person or group of persons would face the wrath of the law. In these trying moments, we appeal to the general public, particularly, the border residents and various stakeholders to police the security agencies to police our beloved nation. We’re not resourced by the state to harass the citizens but to protect same and nation. Together, we shall triumph!”
