The Communication Officer for National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Nadowli/Kaleo constituency B. T Sly has called on the ruling NPP to desist from politicization of the state security apparatus.
The outspoken Nadowli/Kaleo Communication Officer urged the ruling government to ensure that qualified citizens are recruited into the state securities and not just party Boys and Allies.
Speaking on Progress 98.1 FM, B. T Sly cited the recent security scenarios as the reasons why government must not colorize the state security.
“When you use two months to train security apparatus that was supposed to last for minimum six months, what do you expect from such products? When you politicize the security machinery, you are setting a bad precedence for other government to follow”,B.T Sly told Morris Banaamwine on Progress Super Morning Drive.
In furtherance to his stand on the volatile topic, he chronicled the police recruitment process in the last four years.
“Under NDC, the recruitment of police personnel was always advertised for qualified Ghanaians to apply. In the last four years, can you mention the last time police recruitment was announced? All you hear that is that there is a backlog and the training program lasts for just two months”, BT Sly added.
Ghana has witnessed a number of security setbacks in the last few years led by the Ayawaso West Wuogon bye-election.
