Wa West MP Donates Food Items to Support 1442 BECE Candidates

                                             BY:CITIZEN JOURNALIST

The Member of Parliament for Wa West, Hon. Peter Launchane  Toobu has once again demonstrated his dedication to the education sector by donating assorted food items to support 1442 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidates who are set to begin their final exams on August 7, 2023. The donation, which took place on August 6, 2023, included 16 bags of rice and 4 gallons of oil to cater to the feeding of the candidates, comprising 737 boys and 705 girls, during the examination period.

Speaking on the motivation behind his donation, Hon. Toobu noted that providing nourishing food items would help the candidates to remain focused and calm during the exams, as food is an essential aspect of their overall well-being. He, however, expressed his dismay over how the government's inability to organize mocks has negatively affected the preparedness of the candidates.

According to Hon. Toobu, the government could not organize mocks since 2020, which put the candidates at a disadvantage. He expressed deep concern over the students' preparations, given the unfavorable circumstances under which they found themselves.

In acknowledgement of the MP's selfless act, the Wa West District Director of Education, Mr. Amatus Tug-UU, commended Hon. Toobu for his continuous support to the education sector and the district.

According to the director, Hon. Toobu had donated 400 dual desks to the district and organized mock exams for the candidates for the past three years,

Mr. Tug-UU added that the food items would adequately cater to the nutrition needs of the candidates during the exam period. He expressed optimism that the candidates could now study, revise, and prepare for the exams adequately with the necessary resources available.
