Mr Alban Sumana K. Bagbin, Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament and Member of Parliament for Nadowli-Kaleo on Wednesday paid a courtesy call on the over lord of the Waala traditional area to announce his intention of contesting the Presidential Primaries of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) scheduled for December 7, 2018.
The Nadowli-Kaleo MP was accompanied by the newly elected NDC regional executives and the former regional chairman, Mattew Sung-Aabo.
The Second Deputy Speaker indicated that as custom demands, the NDC needs to go to the polls to elect a new leader to lead the party in the 2020 General Elections.
He described himself as the right candidate for the job as he has gained diverse experience from his work as Member of Parliament over the years.
He noted that the NDC must strive to build a strong party to win Election 2020 and beyond.
Hon. Bagbin said Ghanaians will be the best persons to access whether the New Patriotic Party are living up to their promises.
He told the Chiefs Present at the gathering that so far two persons from the region including himself have declared their intention to contest the NDC Presidential Primaries.
Naa Seidu Braimah, the chief of Guli speaking on Behalf of Wa Naa, Naa Fuseini Pelpuo IV appealed to the MP and the other four Northern Candidates eyeing the NDC Presidential candidate slot to consult each other and allow one person to contest for the position.
So far, Hon. Alban Bagbin, Nurideen Iddrisu, Stephen Atubiga from the Upper East Region and Former President, John Dramani Mahama from Bole are the four persons contesting from the Northern sector of the country.
