Alhaji Mustapha Dimah Govier a businessman based in the Wa Municipality of the Upper West Region and the regional organizer of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) has handed over a newly built Masjid to the Islamic Umah of the Wa Municipality.
The masjid located behind the Wa Senior High School along the Wa Bamahu road was constructed by the Businessman cum politician as part of his promises to God after he visited the holy land of Saudi Arabia to perform hajj in 2017 which is one of the pillars of Islam.
The estimated 200 capacity masjid will serve Muslims around Wa Senior High School, SSNIT Flats, Konta and parts of Danku and Bamahu.
When asked why the construction of the masjid, Alhaji
Govier said it is a call from God, “when I saw KABA the first day, I cried and told myself that I will not let Islam down anywhere I find myself and I told myself that I was going to build a masjid as part of my contributions to Islam’’.
Delivering an oration in the masjid before the official commissioning, Shaikh Ahmed Ya’kub said, anyone who builds a masjid for prayers will also get a house built for him or her by God in heaven.
He called on all Muslims in the world to follow the steps of the business guru for Islam to become a beautiful one for every soul to join, he added that Alhaji Govier will live to enjoy the benefits of the masjid as many will come to pray in the masjid
He prayed for him and the family for good health and advise him not to consider the masjid as his own but for God. He said Alhaji Govier is only a care taker because after building a masjid, it now belongs to God
