The Upper West Regional Commander of the Motor Traffic and Transport Unit (MTTU) of the Ghana Police Service, ASP Emelia Asiedua Gyekye have admonished ladies who usually do not want to wear crash helmets because of their hair styles to buy private cars for themselves and not ride motor bikes.
She expressed concern over most ladies in the municipality riding motor bikes without crash helmets indicating that most deaths from accidents are a result of head injuries.
She said the effects of accidents are so enormous that people need to protect themselves when using the road.
ASP Emelia Gyekye made this known in Wa on Wednesday in an interview with Progress News.
The MTTU regional Commander commenting on why the command usually undertake operations to arrest motorist riding without crash helmets, she indicated that a comparative analysis of accidents cases across the country shows that most people in the region lose their lives through motor accidents. She said most victims do not wear helmets to protect themselves.
