Tipentey Nicholas, a year 2 student of Tamale Nursing Training College from Da-eyiri, a small farming community in the Wa West District of the Upper West Region has blamed the poor education standards in the community on the lack of electricity.
He made the remarks at the community in an exclusive interview with Radio Progress News early this week.
Nicholas mentioned that the lack of electricity in the community has negatively affected his online studies after students were sent home to continue studies via online due to the outbreak of the novel coronavirus.
He said pupils of Da-eyiri Basic School continue to perform abysmally in the Basic Education Certificate Examination level due to lack of electricity in the community. According to him the pupils cannot do any extra learning after schooling hours especially in the night.
He appealed to government to extend electricity to the community.
