The deputy Upper West Regional minister, Issahaku Amidu Chinnia has successfully filed his nomination forms to contest the incumbent Member of Parliament for the Sissala East Constituency of the NPP on Saturday.
The campaign manager for the deputy minister, Ahmed Benin said the deputy minister will get 300 votes out of the 450 delegates that will be voting on 25th of April, 2020 to elect the parliamentary candidate of the NPP in the Sissala East constituency.
In his speech, the deputy regional minister said, he will be a member of parliament for everyone in the constituency by establishing a constituency office where all problems of the constituency which needs the attention of the MP would be sent to for redress by the Member of Parliament.
He also said he will constitute an annual constituency executives meeting in the constituency and also all polling station executives for him to tell them what he is doing in parliament and for them to also suggest to him the way forward in making the constituency a better one.
On agric, he said he is going to establish 10 mechanized agric centres that will empower farmers in the constituency. The Sissala East Constituency is known of massive production of maize for several years.
According to him, he will make sure farmers in the constituency see farming as the best profession by getting them ready market for their produce.
Mr Chinnia also indicated, he will be facilitating the development of roads within the constituency when voted to represent them in parliament. He said even as a deputy minister, he has started working on some roads in the constituency through his lobbying skills.
The deputy minister was accompanied by several party supporters who said they are going to vote for the deputy minister because the current Member of Parliament has disappointed them.
On 29th January, 2020 Mr Sumaila Wutirira, the polling station coordinator of the Sakai Electoral area led 16 out of the 21 electoral area coordinators to pick a nomination form on behalf of the Minister.
Briefing the media in Tumu on Tuesday after picking the form, Mr Wutirira said the Deputy Minister had performed credibly and deserved to represent the people in Parliament.
Mr Wutirira said, “We are picking and handing over the nomination forms for the Sissala East constituency NPP Parliamentary primaries to Mr Amidu Chinnia Issahaku who is on official duties outside the region”.
He said, “We, the 16 electoral area coordinators of the 21 electoral areas representing 76.2 per cent of the total electoral areas openly declare our support for Mr Amidu Chinnia Issahaku in the impending primaries of our beloved NPP”.
