National Democratic Congress Member of parliament hopeful for Wa Central, Lawyer Wahid Iddrisu Bampuori hits the headlines after assisting a Senior High School in Wa to construct a multipurpose Park worth two thousand four hundred Ghana Cedi.
The intervention came as a sigh of relief for Northern Star to prepare in earnest ahead of the Inter school sports competition currently ongoing across the region.
Adopted by government in 2016, the school has not received this year’s subvention to enable them prepare and participate in the SHS sports competitions to the later.
But the fast rising politician put smiles in the faces of the authorities of the school by taking to the school a grader and a large area of land was cleared for the school to step up their preparation
Athletics, football, volleyball, handball, long jump, high jump and other activities can all be undertaken in the school
Speaking to Radio progress’s Alhassan Erasung Tajudeen, the PE teacher, Mr. Alhassan Sharifdeen was full of praise for the Member of Parliament hopeful
He underscored the importance of the newly constructed pitch
“It will inure to the benefit of the school in varied ways. We now have a befitting football pitch. It just did not come with a football pitch alone; we have constructed a volleyball field and athletic track as well.” Sharifdeen observed
Last year, the school could not partake in all the activities but for the intervention, Sharifdeen envisaged a change in fortunes of the school in terms of sports saying the school is now qualified to host sports competitions.
Mr. Sharifdeen backed the students to see the intervention as an opportunity to become the likes of Michael Essien and Sule Ali Muntari.
Angaamwini Sadik and Liedip Ernestina are the student leaders.Their beaming faces tells the story. They expressed their satisfaction with the kind gesture showed them and they observed it as a timely intervention. They ambitiously promised good outings in this year’s competitions and the years to come.
