He said the main goal of the exercise is to clean up the payroll and rid it of ghost’s names and it would help verify the current employment status of employees and establish ongoing compliance for accounting and record keeping.
The Deputy Upper West Regional Minister made this known in Wa on Monday in a speech read on behalf of the Upper West Regional Minister Hon. Alhassan Sulemana at a sensitization meeting on the nationwide payroll and personnel verification exercise by the Audit Service in the region.
The meeting was to provide a platform for the Audit Service to brief stakeholders in the Public Service on the ongoing exercise and how it would be carried out in the region.
He said Public servants in the region have long waited for this exercise and they were glad that it has reached their turn to proof the validity of their employment.
He however commended the Auditor General for being so instrumental in the discharge of the mandate given him by constitution and making strides towards ensuring the public purse is protected.
