Management of leading Telecommunication Network, MTN Ghana has presented a cheque of GHC 7,000.00 to the Lawra Traditional Council to support the 2019 Kobine festival.
The network also donated recharge cards worth GHC5, 000, MTN souvenirs, sounds for the festival street jamz and also supported the festival football games with cash, jerseys and a trophy.
Mr Obed Amankwah, MTN sales manager for the 5 regions of the north presenting the items said, MTN Ghana believe in the rich culture of the people of Lawra which brings unity to the people from all walks of life.
Mr. Obed said the partnership between MTN Ghana and Kobine festival is 10 years and it is in recognition of the important role culture plays in the socio economic development of communities in the Lawra Traditional area.
He said MTN Ghana has always supported festivals in the country and the Kobine festival is just one of them.
The planning committee chairman receiving the presentation on behalf of the Kobine festival planning committee, Kunyukuo Naa, Naa Ngmenmaa Yobo III commended the network for supporting the festival for the past 10 years.
He said the festival has yielded many benefits to the people of the traditional area, he said the festival is the major avenue where citizens of the area who work outside the region come back home to reunite with their families.
Through the festival, they have been able to establish an education fund for the traditional area.
The 43rd edition of the festival was on the theme: ‘Protecting the environment –The key to ensuring our Future Food Security’.
