Management of the leading Telecommunication Network, MTN Ghana has presented a cheque of GHC7, 000.00 to the Lawra Traditional Area to support the 2018 Kobine Festival.
The company also supported the key activities including the grand durbar, inter community football gala and cultural heritage day among others.
It also donated recharge cards worth of GHC500.00, assorted MTN Souvenirs and drinks hamper to the traditional area to support the event.
Mr. Nii Adotey Mingle, Northern Sector General Manager for MTN, who presented the items, said MTN admire the consistent commitment of the Lawra Traditional Area in partnering with the telecommunication network to celebrate the festival every year.
“We admire your consistent commitment in partnering with us to celebrate this festival every year. In MTN we also believe in the ‘Can do’ and ‘Get it done’ values/behaviors which have helped our company grow over the years. We acknowledge however that this growth and success of MTN has also been realized with the kind support of the good people of the upper west region.”
Mr. Mingle said MTN as part of its brightening lives agenda invested 37million cedis in major projects nationwide “in areas of health, education and economic empowerment and which is estimated to have benefited about four million people directly and indirectly.”
He revealed that MTN Foundation provided scholarship to 100 students nationwide to pursue their first degree and 8 of the students are from the Upper West Region. Two teachers are also enjoying a similar scholarship package.
Naa Puowele Karbo II, Paramount Chief of Lawra Traditional Area, who received the items, expressed gratitude to the company for the goodwill shown and continues support towards the celebration of the festival.
