The National Democratic Congress NDC Parliamentary Candidate for Nadowli-Kaleo, Mr Anthony M. Sumah has pledged to facilitate the establishment of a common festival for the Chiefs and people of the Nadowli-Kaleo if elected the Member of Parliament in the upcoming 2020 Parliamentary and Presidential elections.
Speaking to host Dennis Andaban on a socio-political programme dubbed “Minority Caucus” on Tumpaani Radio in the district capital, Nadowli the Parliamentary Candidate justified the need for such a common festival to be celebrated annually by the Chiefs and People of the entire district by drawing inferences from other districts in the region.
The Health Services Administrator noted “if you take a closer look at our culture, it is a unique one. I have attended so many Community festivals and Home comings among others on invitation and observed that it will be better to have a common week set aside for all the communities and paramouncies come together to showcase it’s culture. As you are aware, for decades, the people of Lawra district celebrate Kobina festival every year, Nandom people celebrate Kakube as their common festival, Dumba by the Waala people and Bong-ongo the Chiefs and people of Jirapa. These are all neigbouring districts. Not only do these annual celebrations promote culture and unity, they also bring their people from far and near together and that is propelling the rapid development of these districts. It is something that I intend to mobilize all our chiefs together to facilitate this common festival every year. This will promote growth, open our tourism like Ombo Wura, Sankana Slave caves, Anhills at Nanvili, the Bone setting at Duong and many more and create jobs in the district to support the revenue drive of the district.” he stated.
He indicated his vision for continuous development of the Constituency, citing improving infrastructure in education, health and sanitation.
He expressed disappointment at the lack of development of the area in the last three years and counting of the Nana Addo’s government and called on constituents to vote massively for the NDC Parliamentary Candidate and John Mahama in the upcoming elections to return the Constituency to the path of infrastructure development.
He educated the constituents on the preventive protocols of Covid-19 and cerebrospinal meningitis and called on his opponents to embark on a healthy campaign of policies devoid of personal attacks.
