Dr. Bernard Okoe Boye, the new deputy minister of health has been interacting with the regional minister of the upper west region as well as the outgoing regional health director, Dr. Osei Kuffour Afreh. He called on the regional minister at his office this morning firstly to appreciate the hard work of the regional health team and the regional coordinating council in dealing with two serious health issues within the region namely covid 19 and CSM. His visit he says is also to interact with persons dealing with these two health conditions to have first hand information on their conditions and to also find out if the region is lacking in any away to adequately deal with these health issues. He indicated that beyond the covid 19 pandemic, government is still committed to dealing appropriately with other health matters in the country.
On his part, Dr. Hafiz Bin Salih, the upper west regional minister welcomed him to the region taunting him as one of the new competent additions to the Akuffo Addo led government. He mentioned that the region appreciates governments commitment to fighting CSM and covid 19 as the GHS had earlier sent a disease control expert to the region to access the situation and make recommendations. He noted that the region has so far recorded 273 cases of CSM with 43 deaths. These figures not withstanding, he said the region does not lack drugs to fight CSM.
He called on residents to report symptoms to health facilities for prompt care to avoid fatalities.
