Residents of Chokor a suburb of Wa municipality have hailed the NPP Parliamentary Candidate for Wa Central Hajia Humu Awudu for fulfilling one of the numerous appeals the community made to her barely three months ago.
The residents including the landlord (Tendaana) of the community who stated this to Progress news when we visited the community (today) said they made several appeals to Hajia Humu Awudu including linked roads, portable drinking water and electricity among others.
They expressed their happiness when they woke up to see a road grader at the community provided by the NPP Parliamentary Candidate to provide them with link roads to enable them have easy access to major roads linking the area to some communities in the municipality.
Some women who are residents of Chokor told Progress news that the road when constructed will help ease the difficulties they go through when they are transporting goods to the area.
“Sometimes if you go to the market and you want the tricycle or Mahama Camboo to come to our area they will refuse because there is no link road especially during the rainy season. If someone is sick and you want to transport the person to the health facility, you always suffer because you cannot get any Mahama Camboo to come to our area because there is no link road.” A resident said.
They also appealed to the Wa Municipal Assembly, the Member of Parliament and the Parliamentary Candidate for the NPP as well philanthropist to help provide the community with portable drinking water and electricity.
They noted that the provision of electricity will help them establish businesses and boost the security of the area.
The Assembly Member of Kambali Electoral area Adam Masahudu popularly called “Jabagdau” thanked the NPP Parliamentary Candidate for Wa Central Hajia Humu Awudu for the coming to the aid of Chokor residents with her personal resources to construct a link road for them.
Mr Masahudu noted that Chokor community in the electoral area is confronted with lack of social amenities especially lack of school, Health facility, water, roads, electricity and sanitation.
He said the Electoral area consist of persons with different political parties and called for a concerted effort from the Parliamentary Candidate for the NPP and all stakeholders in the municipality to help address the developmental needs of the area.
For his part the Special Aid to the NPP Parliamentary Candidate for Wa Central, Issah Kpegla Junior said the construction of the link roads in Chokor was in fulfillment of an appeal made by residents of the area to the NPP Parliamentary Candidate some months ago when they invited her to the community to share their challenges and seek for her support.
Mr Kpegla who doubles as the Wa Central Financial Secretary of the ruling NPP stated that the Parliamentary Candidate Hajia Humu Awudu in her quest to address the developmental needs of her people have in the past few weeks reshaped and constructed some link roads at Jonga, Sombo, Charia and Chokor among others in the Wa municipality.
He assured the residents of Chokor especially the women of Hajia Humu Awudu’s preparedness to address the developmental challenges of the area especially the provision of portable drinking water.
