CEO of the High Grade Family, Samini has admonished musicians and creative arts industry players in the Upper West Region to make effective use of social media as a promotional tool for their works.
He made the admonishment at a conference organized by the High Grade Family team to interact with stakeholders in the entertainment and creative arts industry in the Upper West Region on Wednesday, 4th November 2020 at Zennes Guest House in Wa, the regional capital.
Samini was enskined “Pebilii Naa” in December 2018 by the overlord of the Waala Traditional Council and he has since been frequenting home to honor the “Damba” festival which marked its 100th anniversary this year.
The Reggae/Dancehall legend addressing stakeholders in the entertainment and creative arts industry said they should make good use of the tools available like social media to promote their works.
He mentioned how easier the influx of social media has made promotion of works easier today as compared to the older days.
Samini said the artistes and managers should employ techniques such as broadcast list and also be active on social media by sharing links to their works and promotional posts like posters and banners of new songs and shows as well as tagging the right people in their posts. He also encouraged them to use proper hash tags.
Samini then cautioned the industry players to use the internet positively as it offers a wide variety of knowledge saying, artistes should read and watch things related to their crafts and how to better their craft and brands instead of spending all their time watching unnecessary content on the internet.
He further stated that “after years of celebrating northern entertainers, we intend to use this to empower the industry people with more insightful knowledge on how to take their creative works serious by putting efforts to get it across and create synergies that will impact positively on their individual brands and holistically grow the creative arts industry in the region.’’
As part of his support to help the Upper West music industry, Samini has agreed to collaborate with winners of the Artiste of the Year category of Progress Upper West Music Awards Scheme (PRUMAS). In effect, he is set to feature the 2020 Artiste of the Year, Best Gally and the New Artiste of the Year, Bwoy Wan.
After addressing the conference, the opportunity was given to those present to make contributions and also ask questions to which Samini and his team gave insightful responses.
