The Chief Executive Officer of X-unit Group of Companies Mr. Anwar Sadat has called on all members of parliament in the Upper West Region to be united in the fight for regional development.
He said, the geographical location of the upper west region sharing boarders with Burkina Faso, Niger and Mali to the north and Ivory Coast to the west there is the need for the MPs from the region to lobby for and Inland port to be construct in upper west with a railway lines connecting from Tema port to upper west region.
“Again there is the need for a teaching hospital and medical school in the region to train more doctors and other health personals to mount the Health facilities in the region’’.
The CEO said, the allocation of the president 88 district hospitals in the country must also be a priority to all members of parliament in the region.
According to him, the region can get more than 5 hospitals and get other hospitals upgraded or renovated if all the mps come together and advocate for more from the government.
The President disclosed this in his eighth address to the nation
“There are 88) districts in our country without district hospitals; we have six (6) new regions without regional hospitals; we do not have five infectious disease control centres dotted across the country; and we do not have enough testing and isolation centres for diseases like COVD-19. We must do something urgently about this. That is why Government has decided to undertake a major investment in our healthcare infrastructure, the largest in our history. We will, this year, begin constructing 88 hospitals in the districts without hospitals,” he said.
