The Early Childhood Coordinator for Wa East, Mr. Nuenperi Isaac has revealed that the district continues to record low enrolment and high drop out of pupils at the basic level.

He made the revelation during a day stakeholder review meeting on the performance of the district in the area of education at the Loggu Community Day Senior High School.

He said the District Education Directorate through UNICEF has received support to sensitize and create awareness on the need for parents to enroll their children in school.

He said the practice where parents encourage their children to engage in illegal mining popularly called galamsey and Kayayei needs to be curtailed.

He is hopeful that the support received from UNICEF will help increase enrollment and retention of pupils at the basic level in the district.

Some participants at the review meeting commended  the Wa East District Education Directorate and UNICEF for the initiative and promised to play their respective roles in ensuring that children of school going age are enrolled in school.
