The Wa West District Assembly in the Upper West Region has awarded a contract for the construction of a 14 kilometer road through Meteu, Chogsia, Ayuorkura and Nyoli communities.
The contractor, A. Adnan Construction is expected to mobilize and begins work by the close of the week. He is expected to finish work in three (3) months. The 14 kilometer road is funded through the District Development Facility.
The District Chief Executive for Wa West, Hon. Edward laabiir Sabo made this known when he visited the site together with the District Engineer Kpeluu Gorden.
Edward Laabiir Sabo urged residents to refrain from actions or activities that would delay the construction of the road. He called on residents to cooperate with the contractor.
Mr. Kpeluu Gorden said some crops along the construction site will be destroyed and urged the affected farmers to bare with the contractor.
Some residents speaking to Progress News applauded the Wa West District Assembly for making efforts to get the road constructed.
They however appealed for compensation from the Assembly for their crops that may be destroyed in the process of the construction.
