Danaa Tierity, a 48-year-old man and his son Danaa Dayuo, 27 from Domangyile near Nyoli in the Wa West district of the Upper West Region was on Saturday, January 12, 2019 shot and killed by armed robbers at about 8:30 pm in their house.
The incident is reported to have happened at about 8:30 pm on the said date when four young masked men with guns and cutlasses entered the deceased house and ordered them to surround all the monies they have to them. The robbers made away a sum of GHC5000.00 and about 30,000 CFA.
The robbers after collecting the monies without any struggle shot and killed Danaa Tierity and his 27-year-old son Danaa Dayuo.
Upper West Regional Crime Officer, Chief Superintendent Reynolds Manteaw told Progress News in an interview that the police have since carried out an autopsy on the bodies of the two but there were no information at the time of granting this interview.
He said the police have since commenced investigation into the incident and said the perpetrators will be brought to book.
He cautioned the general public to refrain from keeping large sums of money in their homes.
The bereaved family and residents expressed over the unfortunate incident and called on the general public to assist the police with any information that will lead to the arrest and prosecution of the armed robbers.
