Officials of Sungbawiara Foundation has announced that the organization is committed to planting more trees within the Upper West Region. Speaking at a brief ceremony under its project dubbed “GREENING UPPER WEST REGION” at Berinyaase JHS in the Wa West District to hand over 250 tree seedling species of acacia, mangoes, cashew and morenga for woodlot development worth two thousand 410 Ghana Cedis (GH¢2,410.00) the Project Officer of the organization Mr. Zakaria Ghanamy Shalabil hailed authorities of the foe their efforts in ensuring the overall success of the project.
This is the fourth phase of the project as the school have earlier received over 150 trees in the past.
The school is best performing in terms of the beneficiary schools of the project.
As part of the initiative, a bicycle was donated to the best performing volunteers for his continues hard work and dedication.
The consultant to Sungbawira Foundation, who double as the CEO of Ideapath Consultant, Tahiru Lukman, lauded the school for giving a critical attention to ensuring the trees survival.
He noted that, although the organization is financially handicapped and looking forward to partners to scale it up, it is still committed to supporting schools and communities to planting more tree’s in their very small way.
He added that the project has the potential to benefit future generation.
He was hopeful that Berinyaase that has become a model of the project in the Wa West District would attract more environmentalist and other partners for greater interventions.
The Headmaster of the school thanked Sungbawiara Foundation and assured that his outfit will work hard to ensure 99 percent survival rate of the tree seedlings.
