The Overlord of the Waala Traditional Area Naa Fuseini Seidu Pelpuo IV has commended Former President John Dramani Mahama for his show of statesmanship during the 2020 general elections.
In a speech read on his behalf by the Secretary to Wa Naa Naa Kadiri Ibrahim, Wa Naa Seidu Pelpuo said the former president’s campaigns during the 2020 elections were clean, issue and track record based and that his message of peace for the development of Ghana was consistent throughout the period of the campaigns.
Naa Fuseini Pelpuo IV made the revelation when the Former President called on him at his palace as part of his one day Thank you Tour of the Upper West Region to show appreciation to the chiefs and people of the Upper West Region for the support given to him and the NDC party in the 2020 general elections.
“Your statement after the election petition-2020 on 4th march, 2021 was most reassuring and as usual, won Ghana the admiration of all”, the chief added.
The Overlord of the Waala Traditional Area noted that the sterling performance of the former President at the 2020 general elections made the NDC party very proud of him and he Wa Naa has no doubt that the NDC would be more than ready to return the former President to the ballot paper for the 2024 general elections.
“You have an unfinished business and as part of this unfinished business keep in mind the roads, the many uncompleted educational institutions, health infrastructure among others” Wa Naa stated.
The former President who is accompanied to the Upper West region by his 2020 running mate Prof. Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang, the National Chairman of the NDC Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, the 2020 Campaign Manager of the NDC Prof Joshua Alabi as well as some National executives, thanked the people of the Upper West region for their continues massive support to him and the NDC.
HE John Dramani Mahama could not hide his appreciation for the Upper west region for being the second highest region to have voted for the NDC after Volta region in percentage terms.
“The Upper West region had the highest percentage votes in the five Northern regions with 67 percent with the NDC Presidential candidate winning in all the eleven constituencies of the Upper west region”.
The former also used the occasion to call on the president and government to as a matter of urgency respond quickly to the damage caused by torrential rains on August 13 to some major roads in the Upper west region as well as provide seed capital to the Upper West regional hospital for it to operate at full capacity.
